What do you like best about the product?

An excellent solution for database protection. It not only gives customers out-of-the-box accelerators aligned with current security standards, but when implemented properly, it can also serve as an inline solution that helps defend against potential cybersecurity threats in real time.

What do you dislike about the product?

The main weakness is integration with other security solutions. While IBM Guardium has its own Incident Management capabilities and reliably records every security incident, forwarding those incidents to a SIEM platform is, in some cases, not adequately supported.
The biggest challenge is the incident metadata. With certain SIEM solutions, the LEEF messages need to be fully customised so the relevant incident details are parsed correctly and displayed properly in the SIEM environment. Without this customisation, important contextual information may be missing, which reduces the effectiveness of monitoring, correlation, and incident response.

IBM Guardium helps protect an organization’s most valuable asset—its data. With cyber threats targeting databases growing in both sophistication and frequency, strong database security has never been more critical.

Guardium offers a comprehensive inline database protection solution designed to detect and prevent malicious activity before sensitive data is compromised. Beyond advanced threat protection, it also supports organizations in implementing and maintaining compliance with major regulatory and security frameworks, including DORA, GDPR, PCI DSS, and others, through built-in policy enforcement, monitoring, auditing, and reporting capabilities.

What do you like best about the product?

I like best about IBM Guardium Data Protection is its ability to provide comprehensive database activity monitoring and real-time threat detection. It helps organizations identify unauthorized access, monitor sensitive data usage, and maintain compliance with regulatory requirements. The centralized dashboard, detailed audit trails, and customizable alerts make it easier for security and data teams to track database activities and respond quickly to potential risks. Its support for multiple database platforms is also a major advantage for enterprises managing diverse environments.

What do you dislike about the product?

One aspect that could be improved is the complexity of the initial setup and configuration process. New users may face a steep learning curve when configuring policies, reports, and monitoring rules. The user interface can feel overwhelming at times due to the large number of features and options available. Additionally, performance tuning and troubleshooting may require specialized knowledge, and licensing costs can be significant for smaller organizations.

IBM Guardium Data Protection helps solve challenges related to database security, data monitoring, compliance, and risk management. It provides real-time visibility into database activities, detects unauthorized access attempts, and helps protect sensitive information from internal and external threats. The platform also simplifies compliance reporting and auditing processes. As a result, it improves data security, reduces compliance effort, enhances monitoring capabilities, and gives greater confidence that critical business data is protected

What do you like best about the product?

I really appreciate the smooth experience with IBM Guardium Data Protection. The team has been super helpful and responsive, assisting us in onboarding and even developing custom features that align with our specific requirements. This has made the tool very accessible and provides exactly the kind of toolset and protection layer we've been looking for. It's definitely a step in the right direction for us. The initial setup was quite easy, thanks to the helpful support team. They even went above and beyond to design a custom security layer for our trading strategies, which has been particularly beneficial and impactful for our workflow.

What do you dislike about the product?

But, there have been periods of, let's say, dark responses or maybe a certain deadline was not met and we were expecting things to be shipped a little faster. As compared to the time it has taken the IBM Guardium.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use IBM Guardium Data Protection to secure API secrets and sensitive data, providing a much-needed protection layer for our trading technology, which has been very helpful for our operations.

What do you like best about the product?

I like IBM Guardium Data Protection for its agentless real-time protection that speeds up deployment at scale with zero or minimal impact on production databases. I appreciate the strong compliance and audit features that are built-in for PCI, GDPR, SOX, and HIPAA, making audits easier and more reliable. The centralized visibility it provides is great for getting immediate insights into live activity and reducing onboarding friction. Its integration with SOC/SIEM for alerts is also very useful for real-time monitoring.

What do you dislike about the product?

I find the UI, policies, and reporting structure not very accurate and they can be improved. It also supports cloud but not as a cloud-native service, which can be improved for easier cloud integrations. The initial setup is not easy, especially with collectors, aggregators, S-TAP, and network configuration.

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

I use IBM Guardium Data Protection for DAM, policy enforcement, behavior analytics, data classification, and integration for alerts. It offers faster deployment with agentless protection and zero impact, immediate visibility, reduced onboarding friction, and compliance-ready features for strong data security.

What do you like best about the product?

I personally like how user-friendly the system is; it provides seamless integration with our company's many sensitive systems. With help from the very detailed yet simple installation, our IT teams were able to set up the loss and prevention department effortlessly. With our previous system provider, we experienced frequent crashes due to the vast amount of data processed daily. IBM truly gave us more than we expected. Our audit teams are very thankful for all the new features. Especially being able to detect suspicious activity in our inventory, all while logging the exact details for our fraud team to investigate. We feel truly confident that our information is secure. I am not exactly aware of what a company of our magnitude pays for the software, but I definitely think it was worth every dollar. Guardium's insight dashboard allows for powerful analytical breakdowns right before your eyes, which has been helpful when I need to speak in the morning recap of the previous day. I can literally use it to highlight all necessary briefing areas.

What do you dislike about the product?

Running deep inspection logs as we normally do, our IT techs were concerned about the amount of space it uses on our system to store that information daily. Our company wasn't prepared to update our server nets, but I guess that was inevitable

What problems is the product solving and how is that benefiting you?

Major benefit is the amount of time it has saved us in processing audits. I cannot speak to the cost, as I'm not privy to the information on the dollar value investment to give a true comparison on roi
